Comic art by Franciszek Kostrzewski.
Franciszek Kostrzewski is among the first Polish comic artists who emerged from the satirical magazines Tygodnik Ilstrowany and Klosy. Among those first artists, Kostrzewski stood out for his recognizable characters and satirical representation of the Polish "fin de siècle" sentiments of the late 19th century. He made one of the earliest Polish comics, titled 'Jedynaczek's Story in 32 Pictures' (1859).
His career ran for about 50 years, paving the way for new generations of Polish comic artists. He was also active as a painter and caricaturist.
