Phil Krohn studied at the Philadelphia College of Art. He did his military service in Korea, and did advertising art in Chicago. In 1970 he created his comic strip 'Gummer Street', that was distributed by King Features. Outside of the US, Krohn's sarcastic comic strip was especially popular in Italy, where it appeared in Eureka magazine.
