Aleksej Kuzmichev is a Russian comic artist. He was born in Simferopol in the Krim, and initially worked as an engineer and computer programmer. He then switched to an artistic profession, and went to work as an advertising artist in Kiev. Inspired by the work of Russian novelist Boris Akunin, he made some drawings from characters from Akunin's novels and sent them to the author. Akunin was enthousiastic, and Kuzmichev and Akunin started to work on a series of comic adaptations of the novels, published Olma Press.
