Roger Lootine was born in Illinois, in 1970, as the grandson of a Dutch sea captain. He studied journalism at the University of Illinois. After that, he moved to Minnesota. He worked at various jobs and created several comics, which were published in the local student paper, rock & roll magazine Toast and Pulses. He made his own comic series 'Residue', which contains a compilation of his weekly strips. His work was condemned by the Catholic Defense League for its blasphemic use of Christ in comics. R. Lootine can be found regularly at Critical Mass, the famous monthly bike ride through Minneapolis during rush hour. Although local police would love to catch up with him, he likes to steer clear of the law.
