'Der Vergebliche Rattenjagd' (Münchener Bilderbogen #313, 1862).

Friedrich Lossow was a German animal painter and illustrator. Lossow got his artistic interest through his father, sculptor Arnold Hermann Lossow. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He was a pupil of the painters Friedrich Horschelt, August von Kotzebue and Friedrich Voltz. He earned his money doing pictures for the magazine Fliegende Blätter and the picture story collection Münchener Bilderbogen. In issue #313 (1862) of Münchener Bilderbogen he drew a text comic titled 'Der Vergebliche Rattenjagd' ('The Useless Rat Hunt') about three dogs trying to catch a rat and causing a lot of mayhem.  The story was reprinted in issue #388 (1865) of the same magazine. He also illustrated books for several publishers.
