'Le Chômeur et sa Belle'.
Jacques Louis was born in 1984 in Etterbeek, Brussels, as the son of the artist Clou (Christian Louis, b. 1952). His mother was the president of a feminist movement. At age 15, he had his experiences in the field of comic art as a pupil of Fréon publisher Thierry van Hasselt. Starting in 2004, he went to the Comics Festival of Angoulême every year to present his science fiction work to publishers, while making a living as a drawing teacher. By 2007, he dropped sci-fi and decided to focus on autobiographical comics, published on his blog 'Roudoudou et Petite Bouclée'. The satirical and semi-autobiographical comics starring Louis and his girlfriend Céline drew the attention of Benoît Fripiat, publisher at Dupuis. The series was retitled 'Le Chômeur et sa Belle', and made its first appearance in Spirou in July 2010. The first book was published by Dupuis in October 2011.
