GP Jones, MD by Ruth Marcus
'GP Jones, MD' (Montreal Star, 1975).

Ruth Marcus is a writer and cartoonist. Her full-page monthly cartoon strip 'Small Wonders' ran for about 10 years in Good Housekeeping. She then made a syndicated strip called 'Oh, Lady!', published in book form as 'The Wife'. This was followed by her daily 'G.P. Jones, M.D.' panel in the mid-1970s and 'Bi-Focals' (28 November 1977- ), about a retirement community. Originally titled 'Paradise Apartments', 'Bi-Focals' focused almost entirely on three retired, left-wing couples, among them an African-American couple Wendell and Marcia.

She makes cut-paper cartoons for her monthly feature in Rosie magazine. Some of her cartoon work has been collected in the book 'Bundles of Joy'.

Ruth Marcus should not be confused with U.S. columnist and political commentator Ruth Marcus (b. 1958).
