Mark Musschoot, who publishes under the name Marmus, is a Belgian graphic novelist and teacher of plastic arts. He made his first comic in commission of the city of Ghent, where he was artistic director and designer with the Department of Culture. He made a weekly comic called 'Lowietje' for newspaper Het Volk between 1985 and 1990, while also providing illustrations to children's magazine Top.
On behalf of the Provincial Trade and Language Institute of Ghent he drew a comic about the origins and growth of education in Ghent, called 'Het begon met de English Club' (1994). Together with Doreen Gaudblomme, he made the historical comic diptych 'Alison' for Kunsthal Sint-Pietersabdij between 2003 and 2006. His graphic novel 'Barst' was published by Bries in 2011.
