Michael Meier was born in the Harz mountains in Germany. He studied illustration, graphic design and new media at the School of Art and Design Kassel and graduated in 2007. He works as a freelance illustrator and comic artist for clients like Image Comics, Ehapa, Frankfurter Rundschau, Le Monde Diplomatique, Loox, GQ- Germany and Men's Health. He is also co-founder and member of the indie-publisher Rotopolpress together Lisa Röper and Rita Fürstenau.
For his debut comic book 'Die Menschenfabrik', that was based on the novel of the same title by Oskar Panizza, he won the Sondermann award as best newcomer at the International Frankfurt Bookfair in 2009. His second comics project, 'Das Inferno' was serialized as 305 daily comics in the Frankfurter Rundschau and dealt with the adventures of Dante and Virgil in the nine circles of hell. It was collected in a book by Rotopolpress in 2012.
