Anna Merli was born in 1974 in Cremona. She attended Art School in Piacenza and then got a degree in the European Institute of Design in Milan, specializing in children's literature illustration. She attended the Disney Academy in Milan in 2000. She provided artwork for many of Disney Italia's properties, such as Fairies, Witch, Winnie the Pooh, Lilo e Stitch and the 'Monsters & Co.' comic adaptation.
She illustrated 'Rose', a comic book published by the Andrea Pazienza Comic Center, and 'The Witch', written by Mario Lodi. In 2012, she worked with Barbara Canepa on the comic book 'END' for the French Soleil Productions. She continued to work for the French market as the co-artist of the 'Coeur Cerise' adaptation for Miss Jungle with Raymond Sébastien. During her career, Merli has done illustration work for Mattel, Piemme and Mondadori.
