Peter Mes was born in Rotterdam, the city where he also studied Fine Arts. He has worked as comic artist, advertising illustrator, and editorial cartoonist, as well as the director of the museum Kunstcentrum Brabant in Tilburg. He was the creator of the marvelous drawn text comic 'B.B., Persfotograaf'.
The series, drawn with the scraperboard technique, tells the story of press photographer Bertus Bink and his fantastic adventures in among others Atlantis. It ran in Het Vrije Volk from 1952 until early 1954. Mes also published the series 'Michael Strogoff, de Koerier van de Czaar' (1955-56) and 'De Rode Pimpernel' (1956) in the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.
