Frans (or Franz) Mettes was a Dutch illustrator and poster artist. He designed several movie posters and has illustrated various books and stories (most notably 'Bob Evers'). Starting in January 1938, Mettes drew the comic strip 'Het Huis aan 't Water' (The House on the Water) with text by Jac van Amstel in the Dutch newspaper De Standaard (150 episodes).
