Robby van der Meulen has been drawing comics since age 13. Born in the Frisian town of Oudehaske, he contributed his first art to De Stripper, the fanzine edited by René Leisink, Michiel van de Vijver and Rob Derks. He edited De Stripper with Jordi Peters from 2002 to June 2004 and is working with the same team through Studio Noodweer since 2010.
'Iwan'.
He took over René Leisink's comic strip 'Paul Flekx' in the free daily Metro in 2002 before introducing his own character 'Iwan' shortly afterwards. Van der Meulen also draws the comic strip 'Arie Stoteles' for the paper of the University of Groningen, where he studied Psychologie. Robby works with Michiel van de Vijver on comic stories starring Paul van Loon's children's book character 'Dolfje Weerwolfje', with Jan-Dirk Barreveld on 'Kind aan huis' for MAX Magazine, and also participates in the Noodweer comic series 'Amorfati' in Eppo. He has additionally drawn a lot of comics for promotional and commercial purposes.
