'Monique au Royaume Humide' (Grand Coeur #29, 1946).
Minou was an artist working for the short-lived Belgian comic weekly Grand Coeur, drawing the fairy tale serial 'Monique au Royaume Humide' (1946).
Grand Coeur
No information about the artist behind the signature of Minou. Since she is presumably a woman, she was among the few female illustrators in Grand Coeur (1945-1947), together with Jenny Collette and Marie Jaminet. This short-lived comic magazine was created by the cartoonist Charles Gilbert and Étienne Lamarche, publisher of the newspaper La Gazette de Liège. Since a large part of the material in Grand Coeur was provided by magazine editor Charles Gilbert and students from his graphic arts atelier in Liège, it is possible that Minou was also an affiliate of this studio.
From issues #27 through #50 of 1946, Grand Coeur ran Minou's comic serial 'Monique au Royaume Humide' ("Monique in the Wet Kingdom"). This fairy tale inspired by Lewis Carroll tells the story of a young girl from the Ardennes, who steps into a mysterious well and ends up in a frog Kingdom at war.
