Tina by Ruben Montoya
'Tina' comic from Tina #32, 2016.

Rubén Montoya Pérez is a Spanish freelance illustrator and comic artist, who has worked with licensed characters for children's books, comics and other print media. He should not be confused with the Spain-based Argentinean illustrator and graphic artist Ruben Juan Montoya.

Life and career
Based in Barcelona, Montoya has been affiliated with Studio Comicup, where his mother Carmen Pérez is also one of the artists. Between early 2016 and 2019, he was working for the Dutch girls' magazine Tina, succeeding his mother as artist on the title comic. Until mid-2017, he drew the regular weekly gag page of this editorial comic, scripted by series creator Jan Vriends. After that, Vriends assumed full production (script, art and coloring) of the feature. However, Montoya continued to draw the characters in gag cartoons on the magazine's mail section, and in thematic episodes for seasonal books and specials, all from scripts by editor Bas Schuddeboom.

After that, Montoya has been mainly active for the German market, presumably through Studio Comicon, working for Blue Ocean Entertainment on licensed children's properties like 'Mia and Me', 'Benjamin Blümchen', 'Bussi Bär', 'Bayala' and 'Lissy Pony'. Among his other German works are 'Sherezade', 'Sorgenfresser', 'Dinosaurs', 'Jurassic Park' and the 'Eddie Otter' children's picture book series by Schwager & Steinlein.
