Dean Motter has worked as an illustrator, designer, author and art director for several publishers, advertising agencies, as well as Trickfilm Productions. In the late 1970s, he created the science fiction graphic novel 'The Sacred and the Profane' in the semi-professional magazine Star Reach. In the early 1980s, he recreated this comic in cooperation with artist Ken Steacy in Marvel's Epic magazine. He also cooperated on the Canadian alternative magazine Andromeda. He began to work on such titles as 'Mister X', 'The Prisoner' (based on the British television series), 'Hellblazer' and 'Terminal City'. In 1994, he created another graphic novel, called 'The Heart of the Beast'.
