Cartoonist Mark Newgarden is the creator of the 1980s icon 'Garbage Pail Kids'. Newgarden publishes in diverse magazines, from the avant-garde comic magazine Raw to The New York Times. He has also worked for TV, feature film & multimedia projects. The cartoonist has recently completed writing & directing four groundbreaking episodes of the B. Happy Web Premiere Toon cartoon series for cartoonnetwork.com. He has his own studio, Laffpix Inc., to create original content for the web, TV and beyond.
Newgarden is also known as a fan of Ernie Bushmiller in a time when many people still looked down upon it. Together with Paul Karasik he wrote an entire essay about it, 'How to Read Nancy' (1988), which analyzes Bushmiller's talent for directly communicating with his audience.
