Mildred
Ed Nofziger was born in Porterville, California. He graduated from UCLA in 1936, and drew for the campus humor magazine The Claw. He settled in New York and began working for the Saturday Evening Post in 1938. After World War II, he went into animation, working for UPA studios drawing John Hubley's 'Mister Magoo', and creating the character Mother Magoo.
He later worked at Hanna-Barbera where he did the 'Ruff and Ready' comic strips and stories. He drew 'Mildred th' Zoo-Keeper's Daughter' together with his wife Irma in 1959. He is best known for his humorous animal panels, like the bilingual comic strip 'Buenos Dias' (with Hanna Hutchison, 1963-65), 'Animalogic' and 'Chloe' (1970s). His work has appeared in the New Yorker, the Saturday Evening Post, Saturday Review and Parade. In the 1960s, he created the 'Sir Lim'rick' strip. Nofziger wrote scripts for Disney comics in the 1970s.
