H. O'Neill was an early 20th-century British comic artist. He contributed 'Gay Gus and Shrimp' to magazine The Big Comic in 1914. These two characters commented on the First World War and the "Germ-huns", as they called the enemy. O'Neill also created 'Tall Thomas and Butterball' (1916), a comic duo whose gags appeared in the magazine Comic Life.
