Jo Palmer Akligo was born in 1967 in Lomé, Togo. He moved to Benin, where he studied sociology. He left his studies, however, to become a comic artist. His comics appeared in several newspapers in Togo, such as Forum Hebdo, Atopani Express. Tribune des Democrates and La Gazette du Golfe. He created the comic albums 'Soukrou ou Les Méfaits des Sacs Plastiques' (1998) and 'Le Défi', and launched the satirical comic magazine La Biche in 1994. He has contributed to 'A L'Ombre du Baobab', a collection of comics by African artists about education and health in Africa, for which he created the story 'Amina Ne Sera Pas Excisée', about female circumcision.
Jo Palmer Akligo passed away in 2021 in Cotonou, after a short illness.
