Ateful Adolg and Basil & Bert, by George Parlett 1939
' 'Ateful Adolf', mocking Adolf Hitler.

George 'Froth' Parlett, son of Harry Parlett and brother of Reg Parlett, was a British comic artist who contributed his work to several comic magazines. He created the strip 'Basil and Bert', which appeared in Jester. Early 1939, this magazine was the only one in Britain to hint at the pending war when 'Basil and Bert' faced Dick Tater (a physically obvious caricature of Adolf Hitler). In September 1939, when the United Kingdom and Germany got involved in World War II, Parlett changed Dick Tater into 'Ateful Adolf'.
