Colette Pattinger was an illustrator for early-20th century French illustrated magazines for girls. She was raised in Munich, Germany, where her talent was spotted by Fliegende Blätter artist Hengeler when she was 12 years old. By 1909 the very young artist joined the team of Mon Journal as an illustrator. In the 1920s, she was one of the main artists during the early years of Petits Belges, published by Averbode in Belgium.
She was also present in Lisette and La Semaine de Suzette, where she signed with either Colette Pattinger or Colette May. For L'Ami des Enfants, she illustrated the comic story 'Les Merveilleuses Aventures de Nigaudin'. She was also a regular illustrator for Drapeau, the French/Flemish magazine of the margarine brand Drapeau, that commenced publication in 1926. In 1940, she was present in Bayard with 'Goupil - Les Oies du Petit Berger'.
