António Vaz Pereira was a Portuguese artist whose comics appeared in Camarada. His oeuvre, containing realistic historical works, is not that big, but worth mentioning. In his historical comic 'Uma Aventura no Japão', he depicted the affairs between the Dutch, the Portuguese and the Japanese in the days of the colonies in a very personal way. By giving his characters sentiments of loneliness and nostalgia, he lent them a human dimension, which wasn't customary at the time.
