Cartoon by Pinatel
The man feeding the dog is socialist politician François Mitterrand, who would become President in 1981.

Pierre Pinatel is a French caricaturist. He was born in 1929 and began his career in Dimanche-Matin in 1953, and subsequently contributed to Aux Écoutes, Combat and Le Charivari. During the 1960s and 1970s, he was a collaborator of the right-wing weekly Minute, for which he drew the 'Pinatelscope' back cover. He later transferred to National-Hebdo, and has since mocked and ridiculed the political and artistic world for several Parisian newspapers. He gained notoriety when he was sentenced to a fine of 10,000 francs for drawing a series of ashtrays ridiculing General De Gaulle. He was also prosecuted and sentenced for three drawings published in his own magazine Le Trait, which he founded in 1961 and ran for 33 issues. Le Trait later became Pinatel's publishing imprint, that he used for self-publishing his cartoon collections.
