Tomás Porto y del Vado, born in Madrid, had his first publications in Pichi magazine in 1933. After the Civil War he joined Chicos magazine, for which he created 'Man Lung' (1942), 'El Terror de lo Andes' (1944). He continued with 'Pamella Nell' (1949), 'La Reina de los Aires' (1950), 'Jim Tucker' (1952) and 'Suspense en la Realidad' (1960).
He illustrated several episodes of the 'Aventuras Célebres' and 'Películas Famosas', as well as the series 'Los 3 Mosqueteros'. He was also a cover illustrator for several novels. His most notable comics work is his work for the 'Jovas Literrarias Juveniles' series in the 1970s, for which he drew 'Taras Bulba', 'A Través del Oeste' and 'Yolanda'.
