La Ballade des Canuts

Jean Prost is a retired professor of history-geography, and also a drawing teacher in Le Bois-d'Oingt, Le Rhône. On the side, he has combined his two specialisms for several comic books on historical subjects. Among his first comics were three books on the history of the Ain region for Editions de Trévoux between 1984 and 1986, as well as the regional comic strip 'Mutli'.

Prost has made several comics dealing with the history of Lyon. The first one was 'Histoire de Lyon en bande dessinée' with André Pelletier in 1998, and it was followed by 'La bataille de Lyon 1939-1945' (Editions des Traboules, 2000), 'Mystères en pays lyonnais' (Editions du Cosmogone, 2009) and 'La ballade des canuts' (with Jacques Charmettant, Editions du Poutan, 2012).

Other albums include 'Les fantômes de la Part-Dieu' (Esperluette, 1994) and 'Histoire de la Franche-Comté' (Cêtre, 2006-2007). Prost has worked as a scriptwriter for Gilbert Bouchard on 'Les Tonkinoises' (Kesselring, 1988) and 'Champollion et le secret des hiéroglyphes' (Glénat, 2009).
