Andreas Qassim grew up in Sandsbro, a town near Växjö. He showed an early interest in drawing, but initially focused on a career in music, playing the saxophone in jazz bands. He eventually took the art foundation course from the art school in Liverpool, UK, and attended animation school in Fellingsbro, Sweden. Afterwards, he moved to Malmö where he became one of the artists of 'Bamse' comics, starting in 2001. He also attended the University there, where he majored in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies and graduated in 2007.
