Franc Reyes' early inspirations include a lot of Filipino and American painters. His greatest inspiration, however, has been Francisco V. Coching. Reyes was still in school studying architecture when he started illustrating comic books for Filipino Free Press. He was already making a name for himself in Manila in the 1970s when DC Comics in New York hired him via correspondence to do a couple of 'Tarzan' stories.
In 1976, Franc migrated to Canada and lived in Toronto for 20 years. In 1977 he created 'The Fantastic World of Arik-Khan'. He moved on to animation and landed a job as a character designer. Walt Disney Feature Animation hired Franc as a layout artist in 1996.
