Bruce Russell was a Californian editorial cartoonist. During his years at the University of California, he worked for the student newspaper Cub Californian. He became sports cartoonist with the Los Angeles Times in 1927. He also created a syndicated comic strip called 'Rollo Rollingstone' from 1930 to 1932, which he signed with "Bruce Barr". He was succeeded by Tom Paprocki, who continued the feature for another year. Russell was lead cartoonist for the LA Times from 1934 until his death.
