Peregrinação de Fernão Mendes Pinto, by José Ruy (1958)

José Ruy has been fascinated by artistic activities since his youth. At age eleven he entered the Antonio Arroia school, where he got the advice to start making comics. His first comics were published in the childrens magazine O Papagaio. Until the 1980s, he created various series and independent stories, including 'Ubirajara,' 'Aventuras de 4 Lusitanos e Uma Porca,' 'Os Lusiadas' and 'A Vida Maravilhosa de Charles Chaplin.' With these comics, he appeared in the catalogs of most of Portugal's prominent publishers. Later on, he created a comic about the Red Cross, and he made a comic about his home town.
