Born in Reggiolo, Carlo Santachiara moved to Bologna in the 1950s, where he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. Already a contributor to Travaso, he created the character 'Sordello' for the first issues of Eureka magazine. Although mainly active as a sculptor, Santachiara has made several graphic novels throughout his career, including 'Il Caso Limite' (1966), 'Oltre l'Orizzonte' (1992), 'Natura doc' (1992), 'Fanfaneide' and 'Nel Paese delle Meraviglie: viaggio a fumetti nell'Emilia-Romagna' (1995).
