Harry Schlegel was a longtime contributor of comic stories for the East-German magazine Atze. Born in the Ore Mountains, he spent most of his professional career in Berlin. After working as an illustrator, he joined Atze in 1965 with 'Die seltsamen Abenteuer des Kapitäns Jonathan Pappendick' (text by Günter Feustel) and his series 'Pedro und Coco'. His longest and best remembered serial was 'Pats Reiseabenteuer', that was written by Wolfgang Altenburger and ran from January 1967 to March 1991. He also made the gag strip 'Max und Maxi' from 1980 to 1990.
Schlegel was also present in Frösi with local production stories of the Italian series 'Atomino' in 1968 and the advertising comic 'Käpt'n C-Vit' in the late 1970s. Harry Schlegel has lived a reclusive life since the early 1990s.
