Unser Schumi, by Kim Schmidt
Comic art by Kim Schmidt.

Kim Schmidt, a German cartoonist and comic artist, published his first works in several fanzines. He broke off two studies (architecture and teaching profession), and began to work as an independent comic author. His preferential topic is the life in the North German coastal plain, as can be seen in his 'Local Heroes' cartoon collections. In addition, he has drawn "cartoon maps" of Hedwig-Holzbein, Deutschlandkarte, Niedersacksen, Nordrhein-Vandalen and Bayern.

Since 1983, he is the author of the comic strip 'Öde', published in Moin Moin and collected in books by Flying Kiwi. For Carlsen Verlag, he cooperated with author Lutz Mathesdorf on the albums 'Unser Schumi' and 'Kims Comiczeichenkurs'. Also for Carlsen, he makes the historic series 'Störtebeker' in cooperation with Patrick Wirbeleit since 2004. It is based on the legendary German pirate and folk hero Klaus Störtebeker.
