James Ian Schumeister was active as a syndicated cartoonist and comic book artist in the 1970s and 1980s. His feature Great Atomic Aftermath And Fresh Fruit Festival' ran through the Los Angeles Times Syndicate in 1976. But he is best-known for his daily newspaper comic 'Levy's Law', distributed by the NEA Syndicate between October 1979 and July 1985. An additional Sunday feature ran from November 1979 until April 1984.
In comic books, Jim Schumeister's art and scripts have appeared in 'No Ducks!' from 1977 (Last Gasp) and 'Omaha the Cat Dancer' (Kitchen Sink, 1978). In the 1990s he made the Kitchen Sink comic books 'World's Worst Comics' and 'Images of Omaha' in cooperation with his (former) assistant Rich Larson.
