Quincy Scott was an American newspaper comic artist who was editorial cartoonist for newspaper The Portland Oregonian from 1931 to 1949. He served in both World Wars, and contributed comics to the New York Herald in 1907. In this same year, he got married to his wife Ella, and shortly after the wedding they made a trip on horseback from St. Paul, Minnesota, to Seattle Washington. They covered the distance of 2300 miles in 112 days, and both kept diaries. Quincy wrote a manuscript for a book the year after the trip, illustrated with drawings and photos, but it was never published. Only ten years after his death in 1965, Scott's daughter Dorothy Ballard rewrote and published the book under the title 'Horseback Honeymoon'.
