Emiliano Simeoni studied art history and literature in Rome before he turned to creating comics. His first series, 'Lancio Story', earned him the ANAF prize for best Italian artist. In 1987, he also started illustrating for Il Messagero. Around that time, Simeoni teamed up with Serge Le Tendre and took on the artwork for the series 'Voyages de Takuan'. Simeoni drew two episodes of the series before handing it over to Olivier TaDuc.
