Jan-Willem Spakman is a Dutch comic artist, who is also known under the pen name Wimpie. He was born Amersfoort in 1992 and moved to Groningen when he was 10 years old. He studied Comic Design at the ArtEZ Academy in Zwolle from 2010 to 2014 and has been making his own short 'Wimpie Comics' since 2011. His gags mostly mostly deal with humor and absurdism in everyday life. Recurring themes are pop culture, current affairs, politics, social issues and mere nonsense. His work has appeared in such publications as Zone 5300, De Kampioen, Knocky Magazine, ZINGmagazine, OOGST, Blauwvinger Courant, the Groninger Studentenkrant and Quest Junior.
