Grimjack, by John Statema
GrimJack #44 (March, 1988)

Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, John Statema drew comics for many publishers, starting in the mid 1980s. He drew for several small press companies, on titles like 'The Hero Alliance' and 'Evangeline'. For DC Comics, he has done art on 'Manhunter', 'Superman', and many others. In the early 1990s, for Malibu, he drew 'The Solution' and 'Prime'.

Later, at Marvel Comics, he did art on 'Avengers Unplugged' and 'G.I. Joe'. He was also present at First Comics with 'Evangeline' and 'GrimJack'. He eventually left the comic book field and went to work as a character designer on the Nickelodeon cartoon series 'The Angry Beavers', and for Stan Lee Media and Sony Animation.
