Grimjack, by John Statema
'GrimJack' #44 (March, 1988).

Born in 1961 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, John Statema drew comics for many publishers, starting in the mid-1980s. He worked for several small press companies, on titles like 'The Hero Alliance' and 'Evangeline'. For DC Comics, he made art for 'Manhunter', 'Superman', and many others. In the early 1990s, for Malibu, he drew 'The Solution' and 'Prime'.

Later, at Marvel Comics, Statema worked on 'Avengers Unplugged' and 'G.I. Joe'. He was also present at First Comics with 'Evangeline' and 'GrimJack'. He eventually left the comic book field and went to work as a character designer on the Nickelodeon cartoon series 'The Angry Beavers', and for Stan Lee Media and Sony Animation.
