Jay Stephens is a Canadian cartoonist from Guelph, Ontario. He is best known as the creator of animated series like 'Tutenstein' (Discovery Kids) and 'The Secret Saturdays' (Cartoon Network). He started his career in Canada's alternative comic scene in 1991. His creations have included 'Atomic City Tales' and 'The Land of Nod', that also introduced his future animation projects 'Jetcat Clubhouse' and 'Tutenstein'. He has also been hired to work on other titles like 'Aliens', 'Batman', 'Felix the Cat', 'Star Wars' and 'Teen Titans'.

Stephens began his weekly comic strip 'Oddville! in 1994 in the alternative Seattle paper The Stranger. It returned as a full-color half-page weekly strip under the title 'Welcome to Oddville!' in Toronto Star's Brand New Planet Section in 2003. Stephens revived some of his previous underground characters in 'Nod', a monthly comic that ran in Exclaim! Magazine for three years from 1997.

Stephens was also one of the original cartoonists working for Nickelodeon Magazine in 1994 and has also made the popular 'Chick & Dee' comic strip for ChickaDEE magazine from 1999 to 2004. Stephens has additionally contributed to YTV Whoa!, Slant, Owl, Scholastic, Star Wars Insider, and Too Much Coffee Man.

Stephens' first work in the animation field was for the kids sketch show 'Squawkbox' in 1994, and he has been active in the field since. He co-created the daily newspaper comic 'Oh, Brother!' with Bob Weber Jr. for King Features Syndicate in 2010.
