'Teena'.
Hilda Terry created the teenage girl comic 'Teena'. It ran from 1 July 1944 until 1966. She was also
the first woman to join the National Cartoonists Society in 1950. Up until then, the NCS had been all male, with the excuse that "men wouldn't be able to curse" if women were present. Hilda Terry sent a letter in 1949, asking the organization to either change its name to National Men Cartoonists Society or allow women to become members.
After 'Teena', Hilda Terry went into computer animation and was awarded the prize for best animation cartoonist by the National Cartoonists Society in 1979.
