Jill Thompson is an American comic book writer and illustrator, who is best known for her work on 'Sandman'-related titles. She started drawing comics at an early age, and studied at the American Academy of Art. She did her first assignments in the 1980s, contributing to comic books by First Publishing ('Chronicles of Corum', 'Classics Illustrated'), Now Comics ('Speed Racer') and Just Imagine Graphics ('Bananaman'). She worked on many titles for DC (Vertigo) since then, including the 'Sandman' epic, written by Neil Gaiman, as well as 'The Invisibles', 'Black Orchid' and 'Seekers into the Mystery'.
