'Histoire Sans Paroles' (Grand Coeur #4, 1947).

A. Toussaint was a mid-20th century Belgian cartoonist, who provided gag strips and cartoons to several Belgian and French magazines and newspapers. Besides creating pantomime gag strips for the short-lived comic magazine Grand Coeur (1945-1947), he also appeared in Noir et Blanc, Almanach Vermot and La Vie Catholique Illustrée.

Grand Coeur
Nothing is known about the identity of the cartoonist behind the signature A. Toussaint. Over the course of 1946, he appeared sporadically in the pages of Grand Coeur, contributing the occasional pantomime gag strip. However, at the time the main provider of this type of strips was François Brouyaux, AKA Saint-Bavard. When the latter's 'Monsieur Zizifus' strips disappeared in late 1946, Toussaint became more prominent. During the 1947 issues, he appeared nearly every week with his 'Histoire Sans Paroles' ("Story Without Dialogue"). However, his tenure was short-lived, as Grand Coeur's final issue appeared on 27 February 1947.

Identity
A large part of the material in Grand Coeur was provided by magazine editor Charles Gilbert and students from his graphic arts atelier in Liège. These can be recognized by the signatures that are associated with this studio, such as Chargil, Imagil, At-Gil, CAAG and Mac K.B. Since his body of work was limited to only Grand Coeur, it is well possible that Toussaint was also a student or member of Charles Gilbert's Atelier des Arts Graphiques.

Later career
After Grand Coeur, Toussaint continued to appear in the Belgian press. In France, his cartoons ran in Ici Paris (1946), Le Nid (1960), Lectures Pour Tous (1960, 1971), Noir et Blanc (1961-1967), Pariscope (1965), Marius (1967), Almanach Vermot (1967-1969), La Vie Catholique Illustrée (1974-1981) and Big Blagues (1986).
