Dorul van der Heide was a Dutch painter who settled in Germany. He met Rolf Kauka in 1949. They started a collaboration in 1952, and this meant the beginning of the big Kauka production. Van der Heide was the artist of all the first Kauka books, which appeared under the title Till Eulenspiegel. He drew stories with 'Till Eulenspiegel', 'Münchhausen's Tolle Abenteuer', and from the sixth issue, 'Fix und Foxi'. After a while, Van der Heide got assistance from Werner Hierl, who succeeded him in 1955, when Van der Heide ended his collaboration with Kauka. Van der Heide then went to work in the cinema field.
