Martin Vaughn-James was born in Bristol, and has lived in London, Montreal, Toronto, Paris and Brussels. During the 1970s, he drew for several French and Belgian magazines, like Minuit, Obliques, La Nouvelle Critique, Libération, Jungle and 25. While living in Canada, he produced four graphic novels: 'Elephant', 'The Projector', 'The Park' and 'The Cage'. 'L'Enquêteur' appeared at Futuropolis in 1984. Since the mid-1980s, Vaughn-James has devoted himself to painting.
