Arie van Vliet studied Psychology at the Catholic University of Nijmegen. However, he chose for a career as an artist and began working as an independent illustrator and comic artist in 1997. He has illustrated the albums about Bergen op Zoom, The Hague and Eindhoven in the promotional city comics series 'Jules en Ollie'.
He settled in Tiel in 2000, where he has made the weekly comic strip 'Peerke' for the Tiel Actueel section of De Zakengids. Since 2002, he is the artist of new comic books starring 'Flipje', the classic mascot of jam factory De Betuwe, originally drawn by Harmsen van Beek in the 1940s. The new stories, that are written by Mia Verbeelen, were however not created in commission of the factory (now Hero), but are focused on the city of Tiel and it's environment. For Pear Productions, he has made the educational comic series 'Kim & Eddy', starting with 'Het Goud van Kampen' in 2008.
