Yuu Watase is an author of shojo manga. She debuted with the short story 'Pajama de Ojama' ('An Intrusion in Pajamas') and has created over 50 books with short stories and continuing series, including 'Fushigi Yugi', 'Alice 19th', 'Absolute Boyfriend'. She received the Shogakukan Manga Award for her serial 'Ceres, The Celestial Legend' in 1998. Her name is also spelled as Yû Watase.
Yuu Watase is a strong influence on Karin Blaauwijkel.
