Mike Witmer attended the Pennsylvania School of Art and Design as a Commercial Arts major for two years. He then spent ten years with the U.S. Air Force and during this period, he contributed illustrations and some editorial strips to Air Force magazines and publications.
By 2004, he had a semi-autobiographical daily comic strip called '44 Union Avenue'. The feature started out in his local newspaper, and was later also published in other papers and publications, including an online run at Comicssherpa.com. He launched his second strip, 'Pinkerton', at Gocomics.com in 2006.
