Comic strip from The Pittsburgh City Paper, 2015.
Joe Wos is a freelance cartoonist and storyteller from Pittsburgh. He has been cartooning for several clients since the age of 14, and performs throughout the States with his 'Once Upon a Toon' one-man show. With his reputation as the "fastest draw in the East", he makes live drawings of original stories, classic fables and folk tales during his presentations in festivals, museums, libraries, and schools. Among his most popular stories during these sessions are 'The Smartest Dragon', 'The True Story of Johnny Appleseed' and the adventures of 'Don the Duck'.
Wos has been a contributor to the Pittsburgh City Paper since 2012, and is famous for his cartoon mazes, which are syndicated under the title 'MazeToons' through Creators Syndicate since 2015. They are also on exhibit at museums worldwide. In 2012, he created the world's largest hand drawn maze for the Guinness Book of Records. He also created a Toon Studio for the Pittsburgh Children's Museum, and has been a cartooning instructor since the age of 18. In 2014, he launched a Kickstarter campaign for his children's book 'The Three Little Pigsburghers', "the first classic tale translated into Pittsburghese". It was released in December of that year. A collection of his animal cartoon mazes is released as 'A-Maze-Ing Animals' by Barron's Books in 2017.
