Desimir Žižović Buin was a self-taught comic artist from Serbia. He illustrated Serbian national tales and epic poems in the 1950s. His first comic strip work was the 'Marko i Musa' series in 1953. Newspaper Dečje Novine subsequently ran his comic strip 'Mirko i Slavko' from 1958. It ran for over 450 episodes during fifteen years in various publications, such as Nikad robom, Kuriri, Tik-tak and Bombaši. The comic strip series was also adapted into a movie, directed by Branimir Janković-Tori. The popularity led to an increased production of the comic book series, for which Buin got the aid of fellow artists like Žika Atanacković, Branko Plavšić and Nikola Mitrović Kokan.
